Health of Mothers and Children at Risk from Loss of CDC Data*
In April 2025, the entire CDC team managing PRAMS was placed on administrative leave before it could release 2023 data. Requests for this critical data have not been completed since April 2025.
Why does this matter to you?
Since 1987, the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Management System, PRAMS, has:

collected information from 46 state health departments from women soon after they give birth

this data has informed policy and practices across the country including here in Maine:

safe sleeping practices to prevent SIDS

education and intervention re: alcohol and tobacco use, prenatal care, post-partum depression, domestic violence (IPV), nutrition, breast-feeding
